Health workers at primary healthcare facilities are not regularly tested for Covid-19 and not provided with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), according to a survey by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB).
Since the beginning of the epidemic, the Ministry of Health has prioritized hospitals and treatment while ignoring the primary healthcare services, which are important for preventing the spread of the disease, the TTB noted in a statement today (August 7).
"However, it is known scientifically and historically that in extraordinary situations, special importance should be given to primary healthcare services, especially in order to ensure the continuity of preventive healthcare services and other routine healthcare services," it said.
"Despite that, both the primary healthcare services and our colleagues working in those have been neglected, ignored," the TTB added.
