‘My daughter will wake up and carry on her struggle for her son Oğuz Arda’

Having lost her son Oğuz Arda Sel in the Çorlu Train Massacre which claimed the lives of 24 others, including six children, and wounded at least 300 people, on July 8, 2018, Mısra Öz was long struggling for justice. 15 days after she announced that she caught the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), she was taken to the intensive care unit and intubated on April 17.

While the doctors say that she is expected to be treated in intensive care for around 20-25 days, her father Mehmet Öz says, "My daughter is now attached to a ventilator. When I talked to her doctor in the morning, the doctor told me that her condition was good and stable."

Noting that her daughter is a strong person, father Öz says:

"Mısra will surely get through this. Because she was struggling for her son, there is an association that she has founded for her son, she has her family and friends. Her son Arda, of course, outweighs, but her work in this world can keep Arda waiting a little longer."

'We will keep supporting her'

Father Mehmet Öz says that he was really touched and cried when he read the social media messages about his daughter.

"I see that people are very sensitive to this issue. I encountered a huge mass of social media posts and prayers. I was really touched by this and cried. People see the truth and support it. My daughter will hopefully get through this and will wage her struggle herself. We will keep on standing behind her and supporting her," says father Mehmet Öz.

Öz also calls on everyone to keep demanding justice for the ones who lost their lives on social media until his daughter recovers from the disease: "My daughter goes to bed with her son and wakes up with her son. This is a struggle for life for her. If this is kept going, I believe that she will be stronger when she wakes up. People should carry on her calls for justice." (HA/SD)
