Demonstrations Banned in Muş for 15 Days

Statements for the press, meetings and protest marches have been banned in Turkey's eastern province of Muş as of today till October 4.

In a statement released on the official website of Muş Governorship, the reason for the 15-day ban on demonstrations has been indicated as "maintaining public order, prevention of crimes, protection of fundamental rights and freedoms and public peace, prevention of incidents of violence and eliminating the plans of terrorist organizations."

Accordingly, the Governorship has announced that all meetings and protest marches as well as all events such as statements for the press, open and closed space meetings and protest demonstrations, rallies, putting up tents, sit-in protests, opening stands, hunger strikes, commemoration ceremonies, hanging banners, placards and posters, distributing leaflets, opening petition desks, lighting and carrying torches and conferences have been banned in the province as of today (September 20).

While the foreseen period of ban has been announced as 15 days, some events have been excluded such as the events deemed suitable by the Governorship, the official holidays, official days of commemoration, official ceremony and celebrations to be organized by state institutions and organizations and the programs to be held by them in line with the customs and traditions, sports events, events and meetings held for the purposes of science, trade and finance.
