The Ministry of National Defense has announced that one soldier has lost his life while attending to an improvised explosive device (IED) in Operation Peace Spring area in northern Syria.

After four inmates from Van Prison went on a three-day hunger strike in support of hunger striking Grup Yorum music band members, the inmates have been “laid off from their paid jobs in prison for a month”.

After the Court of Cassation has overturned the aggravated life sentences of Ahmet Altan, Mehmet Altan and Nazlı Ilıcak, the court has ruled that Ahmet Altan and Nazlı Ilıcak shall be released and Mehmet Altan shall be acquitted.

The protest of 300 workers who halted work in protest of an occupational homicide at İstanbul Airport has borne fruit. The necessary safety measures requested by the protesting workers will be taken at the construction site.

According to the figures announced by the Health and Safety Labor Watch, 1,477 workers have lost their lives in occupational homicides in the first 10 months of 2019. 155 workers, including two children and seven women, died in October.

Trustees have been appointed in place of 15 elected HDP mayors since the last local elections on March 31. While mayors have been removed from office, governors or district governors have been appointed as “acting mayors” in their place.
