The US Department of Treasury has imposed sanctions on two ministries and Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu.

Ahead of the leaders summit, the EU foreign ministers have condemned the Operation Peace Spring but have not agreed on an arms embargo.

Having introduced a bill to sanction Turkey over its operation into northern Syria, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said, “I just spoke with President Donald Trump. His decision will be a game changer - in all the wrong ways - for Turkey.”

In exchange for letting Turkey's army into northern Syria, US President asked Turkey to handle the imprisoned ISIS fighters in the area.

Currently in a state visit in Cyprus, President of the European Council Donald Tusk has responded to President Erdoğan's statements: “We will never accept that refugees are weaponized and used to blackmail us”.

Stoltenberg has said, "No other NATO ally has suffered more terrorist attacks hosts so many refugees as Turkey does."

Members of the council could not agree on a joint statement in the emergency session.

Shortly after the US Senate, 29 Republicans from US House of Representatives have announced that they will “introduce a bill to sanction Turkey over their invasion of northern Syria and attacks on Kurds”.

The US President's first tweets of the day were again on Turkey.

The US President is under pressure from politicians and the media and the military bureaucracy does not carry out his orders, Erdoğan has suggested.

Asked by a journalist “whether he is concerned that Erdoğan will wipe out the Kurds”, US President Donald Trump said, “I will wipe out its economy if that happens. I hope that he will act rationally”.

US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has announced that “they have reached a bipartisan agreement with Senator Chris van Hollen on severe sanctions against Turkey for their invasion of Syria”.
