One village guard has lost his life and one village guard has been wounded in an armed conflict between the security forces and the PKK in the district of Silvan in Diyarbakır.

Hanifi Barış, an attorney and academic from the Academics for Peace, has been arrested due to the news that he shared on his social media account.

On his Twitter account, Orhan Aydın has posted, “I’ve been taken to Beyoğlu Security Chief Office due to my social media posts. Presidency and Democracy!”

After three students have been taken into custody as part of the investigation launched into a banner carried during the graduation ceremony at METU, the Student Representatives Council Chair of the university and two other people accused of preparing and printing the banner have been detained.

Şahin Alpay, Ali Bulaç and Ahmet Turan Alkan have been sentenced to 8 years and 9 months, İbrahim Karayeğen to 9 years and Mümtazer Türköne and Mustafa Ünal to 10 years and 6 months in prison on charge of “being members of an illegal organization.”

Seven academics have had their second hearings at two courts. The hearings that were supposed to start at 10.45 a.m. were held with a delay of 10 hours and 22 minutes at 9.07 p.m. The requests have been rejected and hearings adjourned.
