Rejecting the requests for additional time raised by academic Çavuşoğlu, the court has sentenced her and Can Soylu to 1 year and 3 months in prison. The pronouncement of both verdicts has been suspended.

Prof. Dr. Gençay Gürsoy, for whom the Prosecutor’s Office announced its opinion as to the accusation in the previous hearing, has been sentenced to 2 years, 3 months in prison after new documents have been added to his file between the hearings.

The Union of Turkish Bar Associations has announced that the Human Rights Honorary Award of the union has been given to Tahir Elçi, Chair of Diyarbakır Bar Association, who was murdered in Diyarbakır three years ago.
