At the AKP Conference Hall, President Erdoğan reiterated his determination to draft a new constitution during the Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting of his party.

Besê Hozat, Co-Chair of the KCK Executive Council, stated that Abdullah Öcalan must be released for the PKK to lay down arms.

The DEM Party stated that their meeting with Bahçeli took place in a "highly constructive atmosphere" and announced that they will meet with the AKP delegation tomorrow.

In the fourth wave of the ongoing investigation into İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) over controversial "corruption" allegations since March, 25 out of 46 people referred to court were imprisoned, and 21 were released under judicial control.

A mother who buried her husband and two sons, and whose other son spent over six years in prison, Şenyaşar called out: “We lost our loved ones. From now on, no mother should have to cry for her child.”

The detentions were carried out not only in İstanbul but also in İzmir, Trabzon, Antalya, Dersim, and Kocaeli. Among those taken into custody are several senior officials working at the İstanbul Municipality.

Speaking after attending the trial of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer at Silivri Prison, Özel accused the government of misusing judicial power to punish political rivals and suppress Kurdish voters.

Ekrem İmamoğlu was formally imprisoned on March 23, 2025, four days after being taken into custody. A total of 31 people were imprisoned alongside him. This operation marked one of the most critical turning points, where both the political and legal dimensions of the process were intensely debated.

Main opposition CHP’s İstanbul Chair Özgür Çelik said, “They are poisoning the lives of innocent people with morning raids not carried out against the real criminals. They are persecuting people by repeatedly detaining those they’ve already arrested before.”

Calling on the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) to support a new constitution, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “Come, let’s join forces. We want a new constitution not for ourselves but for our country.”

The court lifted the travel ban on Turan and Aras and granted their request to be exempt from hearings. The next hearing is on September 23.

A third wave operation was conducted in the corruption investigation against the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality. A detention warrant was issued for 22 people, including Taner Çetin, head of the municipality's Press, Publications and Public Relations Department.

Turkish intelligence will oversee the PKK's disarmament process, the president has said.

“To fully disarm, we must also trust the state," said Murat Karayılan, a senior member of the militant group that declared its disbanding.

The imprisoned PKK leader had called on the group to disband in late February.
