Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack on the funeral ceremony of arrested HDP Deputy Co-Chair Aysel Tuğluk’s mother Hatun Tuğluk. Murat Alp, whose photograph taken with Interior Minister Soylu while he was in detention was shared on social media, is among the arrestees.

The first hearing in the trial of Zaman Daily, in which 31 media employees including closed Zaman daily's former writers and employees Şahin Alpay, Ali Bulaç, Mümtazer Türköne, Ahmet T. Alkan, Nuriye Akman and Mustafa Ünal are standing trial was held yesterday. The hearing will continue today.

Stating that the attack on Tuğluk’s funeral was “in no way acceptable”, PM Yıldırım also commented on CHP Chair Kılıçdaroğlu’s attorney Çelik being taken into custody and said “it is the work of the judiciary”.

CHP Chairperson Kılıçdaroğlu as to his attorney Çelik being detained in FETÖ investigation said “eclipse of reason” and CHP Spokesperson Tezcan noted that Çelik had stood against FETÖ his whole life.

CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s attorney Celal Çelik has been taken into custody.

In the first hearing held without the presence of the defendants, the court ruled that Gülmen and Özakça remain further in detention on remand. The defendants have been on a hunger strike for 190 days and are behind bars since May 23. The next hearing will be on September 28.

2nd hearing in Cumhuriyet trial was held today in Silivri Court. The court heard former editor-in-chief Yıldız, news coordinator Küçükkaya, Cumhuriyet Foundation’s former executives Tüfekçioğlu, İnal and Kıraç, correspondent İlknur, columnist Soner and former public accountant Pamukoğlu as witnesses in today’s hearing.
