520 Journalists Threatened With 237 Aggravated Lifetime, 3,672 Years in Prison
122 journalists are in prison. 36 news sites and articles, eight caricatures, six books and three newspapers have been censored. 39 journalists are defendant over “insult”. Attacks increase and threats become more widespread. 46 journalists were left unemployed.

122 journalists and media staff entered January 1, 2018 in prison; 122 prisoners: 66 of them are defendant, 21 of them are convicts, 4 of them are condemned, 31 of them are suspected. 79 journalists are in prison due to the FETÖ cases, and 28 journalists are in prison due to the PKK cases.

The fifth hearing in Cumhuriyet Trial in which 20 defendants five of whom are in detention pending trial, was held today before İstanbul 27th Assize Court in Çağlayan, İstanbul. The court has decided that the defendants remain in pre-trial detention. Next hearing will be held on March 9, 2018.
