Crucial Evidence Deleted
Radio records of the day the police shot at Gerçek have been destroyed. Lawyer Tanay claims that those records were to be saved by the prosecutor a long time ago. The court rejected the acquittal of Gerçek. Tanay: "The child who is the victim is continued to be trialed as a defender". The case is adjourned till 12 February.

Flood could have been prevented from turning into a disaster says Istanbul Environmental Egineeers Chamber. The reasons for the disaster are to be sought in licensing buildings erected in the river courses and in the poor sewage and rain water system. Despite meteorologists' warnings no emergency plan was prepared and no warnings were issued.

32 bodies were recovered from the floods, nine people are still missing. Hundreds of cars were dragged along by the massive force of the water. People were trapped in their cars. Buildings collapsed under the impact of the flood.

63 Cases on "Resistance against the Police" for Each Torture Case
According to official numbers compiled by İHD, in relation to 1.7 torture cases in 2008 and 1.4 torture cases in 2007 respectively hundreds of cases concerning "resistance against the police" were filed. İHD chairman Türkdoğan criticizes a lack of effective measures against torture and claims that these figures prove suppression of civil opposition.
