US Ambassador Summoned to Department of State Over Statement on PYD

US Ambassador John Bass has been summoned to the Department of State.  According to the report of state-run Anadolu (Anatolian) News Agency (AA), it has been pointed out that Bass has been summoned over Department of State Spokesperson John Kirby’s statement “We do not consider PYD a terrorist organization” and “We will keep supporting PYD”.

Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pointing out to the relationship of US with PYD, and asking “Am I your partner or the terrorists in Kobani?”, Kirby had noted that they did not consider PYD a terrorist organization.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çacuşoğlu had reacted against Kirby’s words and said; “Now you include a terror organization in the terror list, but don’t see another one that is together with it and within a different structure as a terror organization. Shall we call it naiveness to say the least, or what else we shall say but this is unacceptable. Therefore, our friends and allies must make a decision. Are we the partner countries or terror organizations in Syria and fight against DAEŞ?” (EKN/DG)
