UN Secretary General: Release Erol Önderoğlu

United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon has met with the Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Ban Ki-moon speaking with RSF Secretary General Christophe Deloire, has said arrest of RSF Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu, Turkey Human Rights Association Chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı, and journalist author Ahmet Nesin participated in Editor-in-Chief on Watch for Özgür Gündem daily “caused great concern”.

Ban Ki-moon said Önderoğlu must immediately be released.

RSF expressed that a strong international coalition has been formed following the arrest of Önderoğlu, Korur Fincancı and Nesin on June 20 on charge of “terrorism propaganda”.

The European Union and Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe had also reacted against the arrest. (EA/TK)
