Sarraf’s Lawyer: These are Commercial Issues, All Explicable

Şeyda Yıldırım, the attorney of Rıza Sarraf who got arrested in the US, has explained the reason to Hürriyet daily for Sarraf’s travel to the US as holiday.

“They had taken their daughter to Disneyland”.

Attorney Yıldırım has noted that her client had traveled to Miami on Saturday for holiday occasions.

“He has traveled to the US on Saturday. He went on a holiday with his wife and daughter. They had taken their daughter to Disneyland. We have a group of lawyers there. They are with Mr. Rıza. I will also join in a couple of days. I will go there as an information provider for them. I have followed the traffic to the minute. We were not expecting such a decision. He himself was also not expecting this”.

“Commercial issues, can be explained”

Yıldırım has stated with regards to the accusations on the indictment that as “These are all commercial. They can all be explained. It is related to the embargo imposed by the US. They are interrogating the embargo they themselves have imposed and lifted”.

Taken into custody while leaving aircraft

Yıldırım has explained the details of the custody procedures as follows: “He has been taken into custody as he has left the plane. At that moment, Ebru Gündeş and their daughter Alara also were with him. Ebru Gündeş is still in Miami”. (HK/DG)
