No Acquittal for 46 People Informing Against Themselves for Peace in First Hearing

First hearing of the trial in which 46 people who filed a complaint against themselves by saying “We also put our signature under their words” in reference to signatories of the declaration entitled “We will not be a party to this crime” was heard today (October 19).

The lawsuit brought against on charge of “propagandizing for terror organization” started at Söke 2nd Heavy Penal Court.

Many people including academics and attorneys came to the courthouse for support.

In his statement to bianet, attorney Sezin Atmaca who is among the 46 defendants, said that the defendants stand behind their demand for peace but their demand was rejected. The court ruled to have testimony of four people who haven’t testified yet.

The next hearing will be on January 18, 2017. (BK/TK)
