Kurtulmuş Announces 2 Additional Statutory Decrees on Agenda

Vice Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson, Numan Kurtulmuş has issued a press statement during  the Council of Ministers meeting.

Kurtulmuş said that two more Statutory Decrees (KHK) have come to the agenda.

The dismissal of Gülen Community members from civil service, suspension of those who have become public officer by cheating on the civil service entrance exam by obtaining questions before the exam, closing of the Telecommunication Communication Presidency (TİB) are prominent points.

The meeting was held at the Presidential Palace under the presidency of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at 12 p.m. yesterday (August 15). Kurtulmuş noted that Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) Hakan Fidan attended the meeting as well.

Suspension from civil service

Here are some highlights from Kurtulmuş’s statement:

“The list to come from several institutions including notably Foreign Affairs, Coast Guard, Security General Directorate and Turkish Armed Forces will be released and put into effect by the KHK and and the FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization) members included in the list will lose their civil servant positions.

“Those who have been determined to have stolen the 2010 KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) and have become public officers in that way will be dismissed”.

Military hospitals

“The debts of July 15 [coup attempt] martyrs and ghazis will be written off.

“Assigning military hospitals to the Ministry of Health is regulated by this KHK”.

TİB shut down

“The TİB has been closed down and all of its authorities, responsibilities, personnel and technical facilities have been assigned to the Information Technologies and Communication Institution (BTK).

“By this KHK, some decisions also have been taken about special operation forces”.

Retirement age increased to 75 at 41 universities

“The retirement age of academic members at the 41 universities founded after 2006 was increased to 72 from 67. We are raising the retirement age at these universities to 75”. (BK/TK)
