HDP Beyoğlu District Co-Chair Under Custody

Following the raid carried out by teams subordinated to İstanbul Security Directorate Anti-terror Branch Office against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Beyoğlu district building, HDP Beyoğlu District Co-Chair Rukiye Demir has been taken into custody.
Six sacks full of documents have been seized in the raid.
Statement to bianet before custody
Today (January 8) in the morning Rukiye Demir had informed bianet on the police raid.
Noting that nobody has been taken into custody in the district building, Demir has stated that then HDP District Co-Chair Ahmet Teke has been taken into custody in Esenler.

The search bears upon murder
According to the report of Radikal news website, based upon the news of Doğan News Agency (DHA) attorney Levent Pişkin has noted in his statement the following:
“The prosecution took a decision yesterday. It has been settled upon conducting a search in the party district organization on the grounds of a total irrelevant occasion, a murder totally unrelated to our party district building, our district and HDP Beyoğlu district organization.
“The officers are told to have stepped in and conducted a search. They have taken down a seven-page-long statement. Whatever they have found inside...
“The search bears upon the murder of Rıdvan Gül. As there is restriction decision in the case file, we are not able to see the justifications. Yet a restriction decision once again, an unlawfulness, a restriction, continue to come in your way on every occasion.
“We know that they have taken nine persons into custody with regards to the murder”.
Soylu: Searches conducted beyond our supervision
HDP İstanbul Provincial Co-Chair Cesim Soylu has made the following statement concerning the raid:
Expressing that the police searches have been made on the outside of their supervision, Soylu has stated the following according to the news on CNN Türk.
“This morning the police have broken our doors open and barged in. We can see at this point that there is an extreme arbitrary and unlawful situation here. Our safe has been blown up, our documents and the hard discs of our computers have been seized...
“All this had to be carried under our supervision. Wenn the police enters a location to conduct a search they obtain a search warrant and if the subject of the search is a political party, the search can only be carried out under the supervision of the authorities of the party and in a transparent way in which they can also observe the happenings.
“As you can see, what happened here is a matter of a plundering rather than a search. Blowing up the case, seizing and taking away the documents and properties without us seeing and signing indicate an extremely arbitrary situation, aims of which are unknown to our perspective.
“They bursting in as if this was not a political party here but any regular place also reflects the situation of the democracy in Turkey”.
Security: Banned organizational magazines seized.
The statement made by the security has included the following:
“Six persons were taken into custody today within the synchronous operations conducted with regards to the incident in Güven Street in Piyalepaşa neighbourhood of Şişli district of İstanbul on June 21, 2015 in which a citizen has been shot to death by members of the separatist terrorist organization.
“In the light of the information obtained that the weapon involved and used in the murder had been kept in HDP Beyoğlu district building, a search has been conducted in the mentioned building.
“Within the search, various organizational documents, banned organizational magazines and digital properties have been seized. An all-round investigation regarding the matter is being carried on”. (EKN/DG)
