Former Cameraman Dies After Handcuffed For “Probable Suspicion”

Yılmaz Koçyılmaz (45), a former cameraman, has died of a stroke after being handcuffed by a traffic policeman even though he alerted on his hypertension. The case was brought to the attention of the parliament. Koçyılmaz (45), a former cameraman, has died of a stroke last night after being handcuffed due to an argument by a traffic policeman in Ankara’s Ayaş district. It was reported that the policeman handcuffed Koçyılmaz even though he alerted of his hypertension. 

The case was brought to the attention of the parliament by Republican People’s Party deputy Umut Oran after Koçyılmaz’s friends informed. 

Oran submitted an official inquiry to Interior Minister Efkan Ala. He asked whether the homeland security act, a series of controversial regulations currently being postponed for discussion at the parliament, has been implemented already. 

In his inquiry, he asked about why the policeman handcuffed former cameraman Yılmaz Koçyılmaz, who, according to eyewitnesses, had winter tires and alerted on his health condition. (EÖ/BM)
