Erol Büyükburç, Turkey’s old-stager pop star has been found dead in his apartment in Istanbul’s Etiler district. He was 79.
Turkey's Anatolia Agency reported that while his cause of death was unknown, police launched an investigation although no "suspicious" evidence was found.
Erol Büyükburç released his first music album “Sevgi Çiçekleri” in 1975. Despite known earlier as movie artist, Büyükburç gained countrywide fame with this album.
Later on in 1981, he released “Sen Varsın” and “Yıllar Sonra” in 2000.
Born on 22 March 1936 in Adana province, Büyükburç first appeared on the movie “Plajda Sevişelim / Neşeli Aşıklar”.
Throughout his life as artist, Büyükburç appeared in various Turkish movies including Horoz Nuri, Kızılcıklar Oldu mu, Gençlik Türküsü, Menekşe Gözler, Neredesin Firuze, Hababam Sınıfı Merhaba. (BK/BM)
