‘End Censorship’ Fax from Silivri Prison

Kept in Silivri No. 9 Closed Prison, Grup Yorum band member Fırat Kıl has sent a fax reading, “Friends we love you a lot, end the censorship”.

Sharing the fax with public, Grup Yorum told that its imprisoned members’ letters and faxes have been blocked or destroyed, the books sent haven’t been delivered to them, and the members “have been isolated”.

“Letters are kept for a long time or not delivered at all”

Following points were made in the 2017 Report of Marmara Region Prison prepared by Progressive Legists’ Association İstanbul Branch Committee of Monitoring Prisons:

“There is an apparent increase in attack by guards and soldiers against inmates and convicts especially in the last year.

“Letters and faxes sent to the inmates are kept for a long time or not delivered at all. The letters that are delivered are mostly scratched out and censored”. (AS/TK)
