Defense Ministry: Five Soldiers Wounded in Syria's Ras al-Ayn

The Ministry of National Defense has announced that five soldiers have been wounded in an attack by the People's Defense Units (YPG) while they were carrying out a reconnaissance and surveillance operation in Ras al-Ayn in northern Syria as part of the "Operation Peace Spring".

The statement came after allegations by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that Turkey and its Syrian allies violate the ceasefire.

"Five personnel have been wounded in PKK/YPG terrorists' attack with drones, mortars and light arms," the ministry said, adding that the army responded to the attack in an act of self-defense.

"The Turkish Armed Forces continue operations of reconnaissance-surveillance and cleaning mines/IEDs. The allegations that were reported by the media do not reflect the truth," it said.

In the wake of Turkey's agreement first with the US on October 17 and with Russia on October 22, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have alleged that "ceasefire is being violated" in northern Syria.

The SDF stated that Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) started a ground offensive into three villages "outside the ceasefire zone" and "thousands of civilians had to flee".
