Criminal Complaint Against Selling Yazidi Women

Struggle Platform for Women Forcefully Seized has filed a complaint as to allegations that Yazidi women and children are being sold via an office in Antep.

Women demanded the perpetrators of human trafficking in Turkey to be found.

Furthermore, another complaint has been filed against Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and law enforcement officers. The petition accused MİT and law enforcement officers of “neglecting duty” and “misconduct”.

The petition has been delivered to Diyarbakır Prosecution to be referred to Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecution.

Lawyer Yalçındağ: This crime is being committed in Turkey

Lawyer Reyhan Yalçındağ speaking to bianet stated that Yazidi women and children’s being sold via an office in Antep has been documented by German television channels.

“There are footage and news on this issue in German TV channels. We know that there is an office in the midst of Antep, there is a currency counter in this office, and ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) militants comfortably enter and leave the office.

“We firstly demand demanded the perpetrators of human trafficking to be found. We also have filed a complaint against MİT and law enforcement officers because this crime is being committed in Turkey and according to legal statutes, MİT and law enforcement officers are obliged to take preventive measures”.

İKD filed a complaint too

Progressive Women Association (İKD) member, Sibel Altıntaş, also submitted a petition to Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecution Office for the slave market established by ISIS in Gaziantep to be investigated.

According to gazetemanifesto.com, Altıntaş had requsted the perpetrators to be caught and punished.

What had happened?

German ARD channel had released a news reporting ISIS presents women and children for sale via virtual world.

According to chat protocols the journalists reached, WhatsApp messages, documents, photos, and eyewitnesses’ statement, it had been established that Yazidi women and children were put on sale with their photos and sold to the ones bidding highest amount.

It had been expressed that money transfer is being carried out through ISIS contact offices in Turkey and one of those offices are in Antep. A mediator taking back 250 Yazidi women and children from ISIS through this office for a year had explained that he sent more than $2.5 million to the organization and said, “We use every communication means possible. I bargain via WhatsApp, that is how we set the price”.  (ÇT/TK)
