Council of Higher Education Launches Investigation Against METU President Kök

The Chamber of Architects has announced that the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has launched an investigation against Verşan Kök, the President of Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara.

The Ankara Branch of the Chamber previously applied to the YÖK on the ground that Kök signed the protocol handing over the 40-decare poplar woods at the campus to the Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK) for the construction of a state dormitory for 49 years and approved the construction of unauthorized construction site buildings at the campus.

Accordingly, the Council has accepted the request of the Chamber and launched an investigation against METU President Verşan Kök.

'It is a betrayal against METU and nature'

Speaking about the issue, Chamber of Architects Ankara Branch Chair Tezcan Karakuş Candan has stated, "We will follow hard behind this betrayal against METU and nature. We made our application to the YÖK with its documents, requesting that Kök be srtipped of his academic titles. An investigation has been launched upon this application."
