Armed Attack against the U.S. Consulate

At 8 o’clock this morning, an armed attack was carried out against the U.S. Consulate in Sarıyer/İstinye district of İstanbul. A conflict broke out after the armed attack.

A perpetrator was captured

According to the newspapers, the police launched an investigation to capture the perpetrators with long barreled weapons. A female perpetrator was captured in an apartment near the U.S. Consulate. The other perpetrator has been looked for.

Security guards who were exposed to the attack, are alive and healthy. After the armed assault, a bomb squad was sent to the scene.

The U.S. Consulate will be closed

The U.S. Consulate in İstanbul shared via twitter:

“The Consulate General of the UNITED STATES in İstanbul will remain closed until further notice because of the events occurred near the Consulate this morning. An investigation has been launched with Turkish officials.” (AS/BD)
