3rd Corps Commander Lt. General Öztürk Taken into Custody

Following the coup attempt on July 15, 2016 3rd Corps Commander Lt. General Erdal Öztürk has been taken into custody in İnegöl district of Bursa province.

Earlier, also 2nd Army Division Commander Adem Huduti and 2nd Army Division Chief of Staff and Malatya Garrison Commander Major General Avni Angun were taken into custody upon the attempt.

Öztürk who has gone live on NTV new channel  calling “I urge all staff outside of the chain of command within Türkish Armed Forces to and has not received any orders to go back to their headquarters. Otherwise legal action will be taken against those” has been taken to İstanbul by police following custody.

Previously, Öztürk had served for General Staff Operation division and as EDOK (Training and Doctrine Command) Schools Commander. (HK/DG)
