2nd Court of First Instance Reserves All Working Hours for Erdoğan Family

2nd Criminal Court of First Instance of Istanbul examines today the defamation cases filed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his family, the accused are opponent journalists. Six journalists from Birgün daily are being judged within five law suits, two of which for defaming the President, one for defaming his family and another for not publishing “the correction and response”.

Furthermore the court is going to examine law suits against a journalist from Yurt daily and other two from Evrensel daily for defaming the President and Erdoğan family.

Acording to this, Berkant Gültekin, chief editor of Birgün Daily is being judged within five and İbrahim Aydın, chairman of the executive board of Birgün Daily within 3 law suits.

Berkant Gültekin, chief editor of Birgün Daily, Can Uğur, director in charge and Barış İnce were put on trial today for insulting the President. Birgün daily has tweeted the following photograph in front of the hearing room:

As seen on the picture the following people have been brought to trial;

* Mehmet Hakim Koşar and Vural Nasuhbeyoğlu from Evrensel daily for defaming the President,

* Berkant Gültekin, Can Uğur and Barış İnce from Birgün daily for defaming the President,

* Hakan Gülseven from Yurt daily for defaming the President,

* İbrahim Aydın and Berkant Gültekin for defaming Sümeyye Erdoğan, Emine Erdoğan and Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan,

* Hakkı İlker Yaşar, Bülent Yılmaz and Berkant Gültekin for defaming  Berat Albayrak, Necmettin Bilal Edoğan, Esra Albayrak, Sümeyye Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan,

* İbrahim Aydın and Berkant Gültekin for defaming the President,

* İbrahim Aydın and Berkant Gültekin for not publishing “the correction and response”.
