15,200 Public Officials Suspended Within Ministry of National Education

Ministry of National Education (MEB) has declared that 15,200 public officials within its staff have been suspended on charges of coup attempt and that investigation has been launched into those.

According to data from 2015,  MEB has 929,921 staff members.

“As the Ministry of National Education, we are taking extensive action against the public officials in all private education institutions, schools and dorms as well as those working for the central and provincial organization of our Ministry who are connection with FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization) have been suspended as of today (July 19) and investigation has been launched into those”.

Also yesterday (July 18), 8,777 staff members from the Minister of Interior were suspended in addition to which 257 staff members of Prime Ministry had also been suspended whose identities had been seized. Presidency of Religious Affairs had also suspended 492 officials. (NV/DG)
