100 Percent Surtax on Some US Products

Surtax has been imposed on products imported from the US by presidential decree.

Presidential decree on 100 percent surtax on some products imported from the US has been published on the Official Gazette.

Rice, alcoholic beverages, tanning cream, nuts, make-up products, tobacco products, hard coal and cars are among the products that surtax will be applied.

The US had doubled tariffs on steel and aluminum

US President Donald Trump had announced on August 10 that he authorized doubling of tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Turkey.

Trump also said the relations “are not good with Turkey at this time”. (EKN/TK)
