Tobacco producers have been banned from selling tobacco products without receiving a certification in the southeastern Adıyaman province.

Nearly 50 people have been detained in Adıyaman province on the grounds that they joined the protests against the “certificate of authorization” introduced on July 1 and required to have to trade tobacco.

Bayram Türkmen and Tülin Türkmen, who were struck by lightning in İzmir while trying to cover the tobacco that they left for curing, have lost their lives. The storm has also claimed the lives of six people near the Greek city of Thessaloniki.
