Expelled police officer E. O. was found guilty of illegally keeping personal data such as religious beliefs, and sexual life. There were 4,395 communication data belonging to 3,248 people whose telephones were tapped between 2008-2013 in these records.

COURT OF APPEALS:
Private Phone Talks Banned from News
The Court of Appeals deemed the publishing of private telephone conversations in the news contrary to the law. The publishing of private phone talks partly related to the Ergenekon trial were the bone of contention. One court member voted against the decision.

Press Institute: Who Else is Being Bugged?
The Press Institute Association criticized the wiretapping of the Milliyet newspaper switchboard, "This is a new example demonstrating a severe violation of press freedom and freedom of expression in Turkey". Journalists organizations TGS and ÇGD condemned the incident.

G-9 Journalists Platform's Struggle for Rights
Members of the G-9 Journalists Organizations Platform applied to the Ankara Public Chief Prosecution on World Press Day to find out whether their phones are being wiretapped. According to journalist Tılıç, eavesdropping has increased and journalism is seen as a "dangerous work".

Cumhuriyet Newspaper Wiretapped in Ergenekon Investgation!
Cumhuriyet newspaper claimed two journalist were illegally wiretapped related to an operation concerning journalist Mustafa Balbay, who is a detained defendant under charge of "membership of the Ergenekon terror organization". TGC chairman Erinç said that this is a deprivation of the right of freedom of speech for everybody living in Turkey.
