An Istanbul court ruled to suspend the proceedings against the translators and publishers of “Snuff” by Chuck Palahniuk and “The Soft Machine” by William Burroughs on Thursday, even though the official expert report vindicated the novels.

Almost no progress was made at the 13 March hearings concerning the international bestsellers "The Soft Machine" by William S. Burroughs and "Snuff" written by Chuck Palahniuk.

A problem emerged in finding experts for the Turkish translations of the books "Snuff" and "Soft Machine" that brought publishers and translators to court. The court decided to have the original version of "Snuff" assessed. For "Soft Machine", the expert problem is still not solved.

Interpreter Uncu and publishing company owner Çıplak are each facing up to three years in jail on charges of "conveying the publication of obscene publications" on the grounds of the book "Ölüm Pornosu" by Chuck Palahniuk in orginal.
