Newala Qesaba is known as a place where many Armenians killed in 1915 were buried in mass graves. Besides, many Kurds killed in armed conflicts or unidentified murders are also believed to be buried in this area.

Representatives from the bar associations of Diyarbakır, Van, Bingöl and Siirt and from the İHD and TİHV protested the construction near Newala Qesaba, a site of mass graves in eastern Turkey. Police officers tried to block their passage.

Wreckage in Copper Mine in Şirvan
A landslide has occurred in the copper mine site in Maden village of Şirvan district of Siirt province. Two mine workers who were trapped in the wreckage have lost their lives. The search and rescue teams are trying to free the other 13 mine worker from the wreckage.
