Shopping Malls and Investors Association Chair Altaş has indicated that 1 million 226 thousand people went to shopping malls across Turkey on May 11, when the malls were reopened. 40 percent of these entries were in İstanbul and Ankara.

While the social distancing rule was applied in some shopping malls, some were overcrowded after the reopening yesterday.

Dr. Başar Beyoğlu has said, “Considering their ventilation systems and difficulties in keeping social distance and preventing contact, shopping malls in their present conditions are more dangerous than pandemic hospitals in service today.”

A shopping mall, which is promoted as “the first conservative and women-oriented shopping mall of the world,” has been opened in the district of Zeytinburnu in İstanbul.
