Discharged from public service, police officer rejected by top court as well
The Constitutional Court has concluded the application of a police officer against his discharge from public service. The top court has rejected the application, indicating that it can end in his reinstatement if the file is examined as to the merits.

4,464 Public Officials Discharged by Statutory Decree No. 686
With the new statutory decree 2,585 public officials have been discharged from National Education Ministry, 49 others from the Ministry of Interior, 417 from Security General Directorate and 893 from Gendarmerie General Directorate.

Public Servants on Strike for the Right to Strike
The strike of public workers was supported by trade associations, workers' unions and left-wing organizations. In Istanbul, KESK president Evren criticised the government for avoiding the formation of a collective labour agreement board. In Ankara, the police employed force against the striking workers.

Government Does not Recognize Right to Strike
The right to strike and to collective agreements for public employees is stated by International Conventions and ECHR decisions. The government has delayed the corresponding legal amendments for years. The Public Workers' Union Confederation claims that the government tries to gain time and intends to maintain a low budget allocated to public workers.
