Lecturer Bilal Bekar was arrested after an argument with a judge in Rize. A court had decreed not to arrest him, but Bekar was taken to jail upon the prosecution's appeal. The teachers' union criticized the arrest as being "contrary to the law".

The Ministry of Justice did not issue permission for a trial against Armenian Agos newspaper owner Seropyan and chief editor Arat Dink. The case had initially been filed against assassinated Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink for recognizing the "Armenian Genocide".

Kurdish "Peace Groups" Face 127.5 Years Imprisonment
The Diyarbakır Prosecution demands a total of 127.5 years imprisonment for 17 members of the "Peace Groups" that entered Turkey in 2009. They are charged with "spreading organizational propaganda" and "praising crime and criminals" in a press conference at the Human Rights Foundation.
