Turkey's PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has taken legal action for defamation against 7 high school students for saying "Ampul Tayyip" (Lightbulb Tayyip) in a public statement in Giresun province.

Journalist Bekir Coşkun and the Cumhuriyet newspaper were convicted of an "attack on the personal rights" of Prime Minister Erdoğan. They were sentenced to a monetary fine of TL 5,000 in compensation.

The Armenian coalition government decided to take the approval of the protocols between Turkey and Armenia off the parliament's agenda until Turkey refrains from preconditions regarding the approval. The protocols envisage the development of diplomatic relations.
