Istanbul 85th Assize Court overturned another court ruling on the killing of Uğur Kurt by a policeman under the charges of “neglected murder”, advising a retrial under the charge of “possible premeditated murder”.

Uğur Kurt (30), a municipal worker who was coincidentally visiting a cemevi for funeral in Istanbul’s Okmeydanı, died of police fire during a nearby protest dedicated to Berkin Elvan. While clashes resumed all night, 9 were injured including 7 policemen.

The fight between two groups last night in Istanbul’s Okmeydanı district left Burak Can Karamanoğlu (22) dead and two other wounded.
