Yalçın was detained during a police raid in her home in Diyarbakır.

The CFWIJ has released a statement about journalist Nurcan Yalçın, who was detained in Diyarbakır on February 4, and called for her immediate release.

Police raided the journalist's home. The reason for the detention is not yet known.

Yalçın was indicted because of her membership in a women's association and statements by an anonymous witness.

The prosecutor has pronounced the opinion as to the accusations and demanded that journalist Nurcan Yalçın be penalized on charges of “being a member of the organization” and “successively propagandizing for the organization.”
