The family of Koçak, a death-fasting prisoner who lost his life shortly after he was forced-fed and subjected to battery and sexual harassment while being tied to bed, has filed a criminal complaint against the officials responsible for his death.

Koçak (28) was on a death fast for a fair trial after having been convicted of aggravated life imprisonment.

After his attorney announced that death fasting prisoner Mustafa Koçak was subjected to torture and forced treatment, rights organizations have made a call for a medical examination by independent physicians and an effective investigation.

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of Court of the Cassation has demanded that the aggravated life sentence given to death fasting inmate Murat Koçak based on witness statements be upheld as “the evidence is legal.”
