The adjustment of the Euro exchange rate used as a benchmark for medicinal products has caused the price hike.

The combination of a weak currency, high inflation and state policies have disrupted prescription drug markets in Türkiye, particularly for imported products, making it more difficult for citizens to find some medications and for pharmacies to carry them.

"The companies may consider not supplying medicine to the market or not making discounts a way to increase prices. Therefore, this system needs to be rearranged," says the head of the İstanbul Chamber of Pharmacists.
