Released after being arrested for three months in Sincan Prison for “membership of a terrorist organization”, journalist Max Zirngast from Austria has been acquitted of the offense charged in his second hearing due to “lack of evidence”.

Max Zirngast, a journalist from Austria who has been behind bars in Ankara since September 21, has been released from prison. An international travel ban has been imposed on the journalist.

Dr. Karl Renner Solidarity Prize, which is awarded each year by the Austrian Journalists Club, will be given to journalist Max Zirngast, who has been behind bars in Turkey for almost a month. Last year’s prize was shared by journalists Meşale Tolu and Deniz Yücel, who were also in prison in Turkey at the time.

Max Zirngast, a journalist from Austria, and Mithatcan Türetken and Hatice Göz, who are members of the Social Freedom Party Constituent Assembly, have been arrested.

In the wake of Austrian journalist Zirngast being detained, Austrian Government Spokesperson Tieffenthal has said, “We urge Turkey to explain reasons for the detention or release the journalist immediately”.

Max Zirngast, a journalist from Austria, has been taken into custody by the anti-terror forces in Ankara. The re:volt magazine, where Zirngast has been working, has stated, “Turkey is trying to silence all oppositional voices.”
