Representatives from the bar associations of Diyarbakır, Van, Bingöl and Siirt and from the İHD and TİHV protested the construction near Newala Qesaba, a site of mass graves in eastern Turkey. Police officers tried to block their passage.

Families demanding bones found in a mass grave billed 40 thousand lira
Waging a legal struggle to take the bones found in a mass grave in Van’s Çatak for 10 years, the families filed a court case. The case has been dismissed, the bones will now given to the Sub-Governor’s Office because the “evidence advance” was not paid.

At a meeting of the Association for Solidarity and Support of Relatives of Disappeared People, Tosun demanded to disclose classified state documents to learn who his buried where. Bektaş urged for reasonable accuracy and care during and after the excavations.

1,469 Bodies in 114 Mass Graves - More to Come
A research by the Turkish Medical Association revealed that the remains of 1,469 people were found in 114 mass graves so far, the real figure may exceed these numbers by far. The association is concerned about the obscuring of evidence during the excavations.

The Şırnak Bar Association expects the Silopi Prosecution to start excavations in the area of Hezil Stream in south-eastern Turkey as soon as possible. Former JİTEM member Beğler stated that about 200 bodies are buried in a region pretended to be mined.
