According to the Turkish Statistical Institute data, life expectancy at birth in Turkey was 77.7 years between 2019-2021, and it decreased to 77.5 between 2020-2022. This data is recorded as the lowest in the last 10 years. It was also observed that women live 5.5 years longer than men.

The recent data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) have shown that while men’s life expectancy at birth was 75.9 years in Turkey in the 2017-2019 period, that of women was 81.3 years.

According to the Life Tables for 2016-2018 announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), while the life expectancy at birth is 78.3 years for the total population in Turkey, it is 81 years for women and 75.6 years for men.

Based annual population and mortality data of the 2014-2016 period, the Turkish Statistical Institute has calculated the life expectancy at birth as 75.3 for men and 80.7 for women.

The new UNICEF report on the state of children in the world shows positive developments in child mortality and average life expectancy. However, too many children are still deprived of education or forced to marry underage.
