With a Presidential decree published in the Official Gazette, the layoff ban on employers has been extended for 2 months.

A trustee board member at Istanbul’s Yeni Yüzyıl University ordered the dismissal of 17 faculty members in flagrant violation of due procedures. Students believe the move was a consequence of the administration’s desire to refashion the university in line with the views of the government. Meanwhile, eight research assistants at Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) were also laid off, with hundreds more potentially facing the same prospect.

The Atatürk Airport Security Commission decided to ban all demonstrations and acts of protest inside airport grounds. The move comes in wake of a decision by the Turkish Airlines (THY) to lay off 305 employees who had gone on a strike, while the head of the Turkish Civil Aviation Union (Hava-İş) also warned of safety hazards caused by a shortage of employees.

Laid-off worker Kaya was not able to open a trial against her dismissal because she could not pay the advance fee according to the new law. The ÇHD Lawyers Association applied to the State Council for annulling the law since "it abolished the right to access to the judiciary".

The resistance of disabled workers who were laid-off because of attending a strike at the Bizimköy Disabled Production Line has lasted for a whole month now. Disabled Confederation President İçli said the application was contrary to the UN convention.
