Between October-December, 2015, 31 journalists, eight distributors have been put in prison, 15 journalists and two media groups and organs attacked, three Syrian journalists killed, 213 media employees unemployed and action taken on 93 persons including 42 journalists due to defaming the President. ECtHR has sentenced Turkey to 17,000 euro.

After the release of journalists Şık, Şener, Musluk and Çakır, there are still 104 journalists and 35 newspaper distributors in Turkish prisons. 74 out of 104 journalists and the entire number of distributors are form Kurdish media outlets.

Kurdish Media Condemns Attacks and Oppression
Employees of the Kurdish newspapers Günlük and Azadiya Welat and of the DİHA news agency announced that they are continuously exposed to various forms of oppression. Aykol from Günlük said, "We keep on working despite all physical and legal attacks".
