While Altan Tan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Gülfer Akkaya have been released on probation, 17 people, including Kars Co-Mayor Ayhan Bilgen, have been arrested as part of the Kobani investigation launched by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

While 20 detained HDP politicians have been referred to court with a request for their arrest, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) co-rapporteurs for Turkey have called for the “the immediate release of arrested opposition members.”

Taken into custody on September 25 as part of an investigation into the Kobani protests from six years ago, 14 of the detained HDP politicians have been taken from the security directorate to the courthouse.

Releasing a written statement, the Academics for Peace have demanded the immediate release of the people who have been taken into custody in operations against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).
