The TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers has released its 73rd bulletin on the problems of the industry in Turkey. The bulletin has dealt with the “effect of economic growth on labor force, distribution of income and employment.”

While Turkey’s state agency TurkStat has announced that the unemployment rate was 12 percent in July 2021, the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey has indicated that it increased to 23.6 percent after the layoff ban was lifted.

Presenting its 39th monthly media monitoring report to the public with a written press statement, the Progressive Journalists Association (ÇGD) has raised concerns over the censorship, threats, violence, arrested and prosecution faced by journalists.

The CFWIJ has released its monthly press freedom status report: “Throughout the month of July, Georgia was the country with the highest number of physical assaults, with 14 women journalists. Turkey followed its lead by 10 female reporters.”

Men inflicted violence on at least 77 women, killed at least four children, abused at least 13 girls and boys, harassed at least 21 women, forced 36 women to sex work in July.

Main opposition CHP Vice Chair Veli Ağbaba has underlined that Turkey’s consumer inflation is higher than 172 countries of the world.

CHP MP Utku Çakırözer has announced that at least 18 journalists were subjected to violence, battered and prevented from reporting during news follow-up in July and raised concerns about the government’s targeting of funded media outlets.
