In the trial over the death of 28-year-old Onur Yaser Can, who committed suicide after being tortured in detention, the İstanbul Regional Administrative Court has requested an investigation against five police officers.

Murat Polat died as the result of torture in a military prison during his military service in 2005. 30 soldiers were tried, among them also commanders. At the end of the trial, one private was sentenced to imprisonment.
