Three Tv outlets are facing monetary fines for broadcasting Kılıçdaroğlu's claims that Erdoğan was preparing to flee the country after a possible defeat in the elections.

The media authority has concluded that the MPs "insulted the government" and fined TV channels that broadcast their comments.

RTÜK member İlhan Taşçı from the main opposition CHP argues that the fine imposed on a daytime show presented by Esra Erol and broadcast by pro-government ATV is “for the show.” RTÜK has also fined Halk TV and TELE 1 news channels.

At its session where CHP’s İlhan Taşçı was voted out of the meeting, Turkey’s media authority RTÜK fined KRT, Fox TV, Habertürk, Halk TV and TELE 1. Fox TV was fined because the reporter said, “The flames are coming so fast, it is like a nightmare…”

A complaint filed three months ago was put on the agenda of the media authority today, an opposition member of RTÜK has said.

"RTÜK is now a primary problem of Turkey's broadcasting and the biggest obstacle to freedom of the press," council member İlhan Taşçı has said.

İlhan Taşçı, a member of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) from the CHP, says that RTÜK Chair Şahin “sent an instruction to the executives of TV channels on private line, asking them to not use jam-packed images.”
