New Prosecutor Demands 15-Year Sentence for Students
The new prosecutor in the trial against students Tüzer, Yılmaz and Aykar demanded imprisonment of 15 years each on charges of "membership of an illegal organization". The previous prosecutor had plead for the students' acquittal in the scope of "freedom of expression".

Student Demanding Free Education Seriously Threatened
University student Morsümbül who spent his childhood at the meetings of the Saturday Mothers and visits at the Bayrampaşa Prison was taken into police custody because he demanded free education. He was told in custody, "We might 'lose' you just as we 'lost' your uncle".

Sanctions for Detained Student in Prison
Student Ferhat Tüzer is being detained pending trial for 17 months because he posted a banner calling for free education during a speech of the Prime Minister. Now he has been banned from receiving visitors for 6 months because he sang a folk song.

Students in Jail for at Least 20 Months for Posting Banner
"Freedom for Ferhat Tüzer and Berna Yılmaz" was the message of the supporters of the two university students who have been detained for 14 months because they posted a banner calling for free education. The students remained in detention. The trial was postponed to 6 October.

Call for Free Education Ends in Detention
"Parasız eğitim istiyoruz" -the slogan "We want free education" on a banner displayed at the "Romani meeting", which was also attended by PM Erdoğan, is seen as an illegal slogan and was reason to detain two young people. Allegedly, holding up the banner was a criminal offence.
